Tesla Smart Summon is a feature that allows your Tesla to autonomously navigate through parking lots to your location or a designated spot, using the Tesla mobile app. It’s designed for convenience in private parking areas, enabling your vehicle to come to you without manual driving.

What Can Smart Summon Do?

  • Come to Me: Your Tesla drives to your GPS location.
  • Go to Target: Send your car to a specific point on the map.

These functions are useful for retrieving your car in situations like rainy weather or when carrying heavy items.

How to Use Smart Summon

  1. Open the Tesla app on your smartphone.
  2. Select ‘Summon’, then tap ‘Smart Summon’.
  3. Choose your mode:
    • Come to Me: The car navigates to your current location.
    • Go to Target: Set a specific destination on the map.
  4. Press and hold the ‘Go to Target’ or ‘Come to Me’ button to initiate movement. Releasing the button stops the vehicle.

Ensure you maintain a clear line of sight to your vehicle during operation.

How Does Smart Summon Work?

Smart Summon utilizes Tesla’s suite of sensors and cameras to:

  • Detect obstacles and navigate around them.
  • Plan a path to the designated location.
  • Adjust speed and steering to maneuver through parking environments.

The system relies on real-time data processing to make driving decisions.

Limitations and Safety Considerations

  • Range: Smart Summon typically operates within a range of approximately 200 feet (60 meters).
  • Environment: Best used in flat, private parking lots with clear visibility.
  • Speed: The vehicle moves at low speeds for safety.
  • Supervision: Continuous user supervision is required; always be prepared to stop the vehicle if necessary.

Note that Smart Summon is not intended for use on public roads or in complex traffic situations.
